Rockstar made the announcement directly, confirming that preorders for Grand Theft Auto VI will open on digital storefronts and select retailers starting June 25.

The news comes after years of speculation, leaks, and two trailers that between them racked up amazing view counts within 24 hours of release. GTA VI has been in development for years, and its release date has been shifted before, so a firm, official preorder date is a relief for the fans. 

Grand Theft Auto VI is officially scheduled to release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There's no PC version announced for the initial launch. However, Rockstar has a history of bridging its games to PC roughly a year after console release, so PC players should expect a longer wait till 2027. 

That means the preorder window opening June 25 gives players a full five months to plan, save, and get hyped. 

GTA VI takes players back to Vice City, reimagined within the brand-new state. Rockstar's fictional take on Florida. The story follows two protagonists, Jason and Lucia, whose lives are entangled in criminal conspiracy that stretches across the entire state. 

Early marketing has teased a narrative with themes of organized crime and smuggling, layered with the series' signature blend of tension, tragedy, and satire of modern culture.

Recent official screenshots have given fans a fuller look at Vice City itself, including detailed shots of the harbor, towering skyscrapers, and sunset skylines awash in purple and orange light. If the visuals released so far are any indication, this is shaping up to be one of the most graphically ambitious open-world games ever built.
